Suzuki Motorcycles

The history of Suzuki Motorcycles starts in 1909 when Michio Suzuki started in a warehouse focused on the construction of looms for the industry of silk in Japan. Thirty years later he started to diversify his works and began to consider the construction of machinery for cars and motorcycles. It was in 1951 when he started to work full time in motorcycles and cars.

The Power Free was his first innovation regarding motorcycles. Power Free was a motorized bicycle which made Suzuki to attract the attention of the Japanese government giving him funds to continue in his cars and motorcycles research. Thanks to his continuous innovations, Suzuki motorcycles built better and better every year. It was in 1962 when Suzuki motorcycles won their first competition.

The company began to be recognized and respected by the 60’s by American and European motorcycle community. Being the Suzuki X-6 Hustler their best-selling machine in that time.

In the 60’s and 70’s, European motorcycles companies dominated the motorcycle world, when Japanese motorcycles weren’t that known. But between 1971 an 1976, Suzuki Motorcycles won the World Championship many times which gave them the recognition that they kept for many, many years until now.

By the late ‘80s, Suzuki had gained the respect of all within the racing community at the highest levels. One of the best Suzuki Motorcycles of this era was the GSX–R750. Its design and energy was unbeatable and, at that time, it was the lightest bike around in its class.

Thanks to all the innovations that Suzuki Motorcycles had made in the industry and the different top level motorcycle models they have built. This company is one of the 4 more recognized names in the motorcycle industry in Japan on they are always in the top lists in the world.

Motorcycles. Are They Replacing Cars?

It doesn’t matter if you leave in the city or in a farm; it is obvious that you are able to see the increment in the gas prices. You might even remember the price of one gallon just a few months ago. It’s amazing how things change, isn’t it? Well, you’ve heard that our society has been trying to convince us that if we have a bigger car, we are better people or something like that. Well, of course that might seem true when we talk about houses, muscles or so. But when talking about vehicles, bigger is not necessarily better.

If we think a little, we can come to the conclusion that regarding vehicles, the bigger they are, the more expensive it is for us. Just think about it, if we have a bigger vehicle, the maintenance is bigger, right? An also, filling our gas tank will be a lot more expensive. Do you remember the times when we were able to fill our tank up for about $20-$30? Well, those times are gone. Today, we need to spend about $80 or so. Damn!

Maybe that’s why the new generations are opting for ride motorcycles instead of the big and expensive truck. Motorcycles have come to provide an excellent alternative of transportation for young generations. If you have doubts about motorcycles being used more and more, just take a look at some high schools and you’ll see that more and more cars are being replaced by the light and cheaper motorcycles.

Yes, motorcycles have been tagged as mean of transportation of rebels. But, that’s history. Since many executives, men and women are starting to use motorcycles as an easier way to get to their jobs and/or go out with friends. That’s true. I’ve met a couple of Executive Chefs and Sales Men who use motorcycles every day.

There are still many brands of motorcycles available in the marketplace: Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, and the American-brands Harley Davidson and Kodiak. Of course, these manufacturers make a standard motorcycle for the average rider, racing bikes for the adrenaline junkies, the touring bike for those riders who like long, leisurely journeys across the country, and the recreational dirt bike for those who like off-road riding.

Of course, motorcycles manufacturers, create different kind of motorcycles for every one. They make the normal or standard motorcycles for the everyday-worker kind of person, but they also make the racing motorcycles for the adrenaline lovers and the wide and very comfortable motorcycles for the ones who love long trips around the city or even the country.

So you can see, motorcycles are starting to replace the big and expensive car or truck and have become the preferred alternative for the new generations.
